From the Museum website:
Kindred Spirits presents Floyd’s collections reimagined through a creative process that combines hand-prepared biological specimens, found objects, recycled materials, and preserved plant life. By integrating assemblage and collage with experimental materials, she aims to create unique works of art that capture the essence of nature’s cyclical processes.
The exhibition explores the act of collecting as a universal trait shared by both humans and animals, rooted in creativity and survival. Floyd advocates for mindful consumption and responsible environmental interaction, emphasizing their importance in tackling ecological challenges. Through her art, Floyd seeks to bridge the personal with the universal, inspiring innovative thinking and creation while fostering growth and fulfillment through shared experiences and collective action.
This exhibition is part of the Museum’s Lightner Local program. Lightner Local was created to showcase the extraordinary talents of artists who live in the Northeast and Central Florida regions, Lightner Local is supported by the Benjamin and Jean Troemel Arts Foundation.
